We all love gardening, houseplants, and decorative pots. What we don’t love, are the many purchases that come with this hobby.
Plants, pots, soil, fertilizers, humidifiers and more. There are so many accessories that grow this list before you even look at the new plants readily available at plant stores.
All of these items vary in price, starting as low as 7$ and going as high as, well at my local plant store, 750$ but I’m sure you know it can go higher. Though none of my purchases have gotten anywhere near the high range – a plant buying ban won’t hurt!
Plant Buying bans can help save money, and though the typical time period is a month, this can be whatever time period you choose! During that time you avoid buying anything plant related, and even the most minor purchases can add up!
To make this ban easier, you can focus on the plants you already have, research them, and do your best to help them grow!
Focusing on the plants you already have and helping them reach your goals is a great way to still enjoy your plants without spending money on them!
What is the best part of a plant buying ban?
The best part is saving money, without taking the joy out of your favourite hobby!
Here are some more free ways to enjoy your plants;
- Take photos – taking photos is an amazing way to share and appreciate your plants, so you can show them to others! You can also use these pictures to measure the progress of your plants, to see how close they are getting to your goals!
- Re-organize them – I love taking all my plants off their shelves, cleaning the shelves, and then putting them back in a new way! Putting them back this way can make it feel brand new and gorgeous!
- Clean your plants – take some time with a damp cloth to wipe each of the leaves on your plants. Wiping the dust off lets them soak up more sunlight so they can grow more, and get what they need!
Repeating these three steps throughout the month can distract you from whatever purchasing wants you have, so you can last the month and save some cash!
